Der Titel ist irgendwie etwas blöd gewählt, aber mir viel nix besseres ein, daher noch eine kleine Erklärung (ich hoffe, ich gebe es richtig wieder )…
Bei Ghostery handelt es sich um ein Plugin, welches beim Besuch einer Internetseite den Quellcode analysiert und in einem kleinen Popup anzeigt, welche Analyse-/Werbetools vom Betreiber eingesetzt werden um Anzeigen zu schalten, Besucherdaten (Browser, Referrer, etc.) auszuwerten und was weiß ich noch alles. Über diverse Filter (welche man auf Wunsch automatisch aktualisieren lassen kann) können bestimmte Dienste auch sofort blockiert werden, damit diese keine Daten an den Drittanbieter senden können.
Im Prinzip handelt es sich um etwas ähnliches wie Adblock Plus, wobei mir die Bedienung bzw. die Funktionsweise von Ghostery deutlich besser gefällt, da man durch das Popup einen schnellen Überblick bekommt ob etwas vorhanden bzw. gefiltert wurde. Bei ABP ist das leider nicht sofort ersichtlich.
Den Hinweis zu dem Addon habe ich übrigens im Weblog von MOApp gefunden. Nochmal vielen Dank an dieser Stelle für den Tipp.

Vielleicht für den einen oder anderen interessant, der statt der Google-Karte bei geocaching.com lieber die Karten von OpenStreetMap einbinden würde. Ich für meinen Teil bevorzuge diese ja, weil sie in Ballungsräumen und bei Fuß-/Rad-/Wanderwegen häufig deutlich besser sind als Google. Liegt einfach daran, dass das Google-Auto nicht auf Fußwegen fahren kann
Wie auch immer, wer Greasemonkey für den Firefox eh schon verwendet, weil er/sie noch andere Scripts benutzt, kann sich mal OSMIFY ansehen. Auf der Homepage wird eigentlich alles erklärt und es gibt sogar Screenshots von den verschiedenen Karten.
Die Einbindung der OSM-Karten soll wohl bei allen Seiten funktionieren, die GoogleMaps über die API einbinden, aber ich habe mich dazu nicht weiter schlau gemacht, hab es eben speziell wegen den Geocaching-Karten installiert.
Hier mal eine Liste der Addons die ich derzeit im Firefox verwende, um neugierige Leute fern zu halten…
Zuerst natürlich mal das beliebte Adblock Plus, um den gröbsten Schmutz in Form von Zählpixeln (wohl besser bekannt als „Web Bugs”) zu entfernen. Ich hatte früher immer eigene verwaltete Listen, aber inzwischen verwende ich die EasyList Germany, welche bei der ersten Einrichtung des Addons direkt ausgewählt werden kann.
Die Verwaltung der (nicht) erlaubten Cookies erledige ich mit CS Lite. In der Standardeinstellung sind Cookies verboten, ich entscheide dann individuell ob ich die Cookies einmalig, für die jeweilige Sitzung oder dauerhaft akzeptieren möchte.
Für die speziellen Flash-Cookies gibt es auch noch BetterPrivacy, welches ich allerdings bisher noch nicht getestet habe.
Ähnlich wie bei den Cookies gehe ich bei JavaScript vor. Hierfür verwende ich NoScript.
Zu guter Letzt noch die Referrer. Zur Verwaltung dieser kommt RefControl zum Einsatz. Hier werden standardmäßig keine Referrer übertragen, Ausnahme sind Domain-interne Links, diese kann der jeweilige Seitenbetreiber ruhig sehen wenn er will.
Was natürlich etwas ungünstig ist: Die individuelle Zuweisung der Erlaubnisse/Verbote dauert eine Weile und bisher ist es nicht möglich, diese zwischen verschiedenen Browsern zu synchronisieren. Ich hoffe ja, dass Mozilla Weave irgendwann in die Hufe kommt und das synchronisieren von Addons erlaubt, das würde eine Menge Arbeit sparen.
Falls jemand bessere/andere Alternativen zu den genannten Addons hat, immer her damit

Extended Statusbar erweitert die Statusleiste um weitere Informationen, z. B. wie lange das laden der Seite gedauert hat
Firebug dient zum analysieren von Quellcode einer Seite
Hidden Places versteckt URLs nach bestimmten Suchmustern aus der Auto-Vervollständigung der Adressleiste, z. B. Google oder diverse Porno-Portale
Lazarus: Form Recovery sichert automatisch Formularfelder, damit bei einem „Zurück” oder Browserabsturz die Eingaben wiederhergestellt werden können, falls Firefox das nicht schafft (kommt ja manchmal vor)
NoScript erlaubt bequem das erlauben/verbieten von JavaScript auf einer Seite
Personal Menu versteckt die Menüleiste und schafft dadurch mehr Platz fürs Surfen
Stop-or-Reload Button vereint die beiden Knöpfe Stop und Neu Laden zu einem einzigen Knopf
text/plain markiert man eine URL, welche nicht verlinkt ist, kann man sie über die rechte Maustaste öffnen, für mich eines der wichtigsten Plugins
Web Developer bietet diverse Tools, wenn man an einer Seite etwas probieren/analysieren/anpassen will, z. B. das Anzeigen von div-Containern und deren Namen
Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks) synchronisiert automatisch meine Lesezeichen und Passwörter mit dem eigenen Server
