Nach einem recht opulenten Frühstück bei dem wir nicht einmal zum warmen Teil kamen, weil vorher schon alle möglichen Aufschnitt-Platten gereicht wurden, packten wir unsere Sachen und machten uns auf den Weg zum Ring of Beara. Dieser soll wohl recht schön sein und deutlich weniger befahren als der bekanntere Ring of Kerry, an dem wir in den nächsten Tagen noch vorbei kommen würden.
Heute verabschiedeten wir uns wieder aus Cork und machten uns auf den Weg in Richtung Süden, von wo aus wir entlang des Wild Atlantic Way an der Westküste entlang nach Norden fahren wollten.
Nach einem reichhaltigen Frühstück und erster Erfahrung mit dem Black Pudding kann ich euch beruhigen: Schmeckt gut.
Danach machten wir uns auf den Weg in die Stadt, wobei wir noch einen kleinen Umweg durch die Stadt machen wollten. Dummerweise waren wir dann in einer ziemlicher Sackgasse und mussten dann einen großen Umweg durch ein Industriegebiet machen. Kein guter Start für einen Urlaubstag.
Heute war nun also unsere Zeit in Dublin vorbei. Wir schnappten uns unsere Koffer und machten uns auf den Weg zum Flughafen, unseren Mietwagen holen. Blöd war erstmal, dass uns der Shuttle-Bus vor der Nase weggefahren war, so mussten wir etwa 20 Minuten warten und hat unseren Zeitplan etwas gestört.
Nachdem wir das Übergabe-Prozedere bei Enterprise überstanden hatten (gebucht hatten wir über billiger-mietwagen.de), von dem ich nicht so recht wusste, was der Typ mit seiner Schaden-Schablone vor hat, machten wir uns auf den Weg in’s Abenteuer. Wobei mit Abenteuer erstmal der Linksverkehr gemeint ist.
Erstaunlicherweise ging das Fahren an sich aber ganz gut, auch die Gangschaltung auf der linken Seite ging besser unter Kontrolle zu behalten als gedacht. Wirklich schwierig war hauptsächlich das richtige Schauen, woher welche Autos kommen, wohin sie fahren und wie ich dazwischen durch komme.
Unser erster Weg führte uns dann erstmal um Dublin herum in den Südosten, wo wir mal schnellEuropas ersten Geocache suchen wollten.
Neuer Tag, neues Glück. Heute machten wir uns ohne irisches Frühstück auf den Weg. Warum, kann ich gar nicht mehr so genau sagen. Bestimmt Anjas Schuld, weil sie morgens nie Hunger hat.
Unser Weg führte uns heute erst einmal zu Tesco. Ist ein Supermarkt, der auch eine Mobilfunk-Sparte hat. Ich wollte mir dort eine lokale SIM-Karte holen, da mein Auslands-Paket fast aufgebraucht war (50 MB für 7 Tage, Danke T-Mobile!) und wir für die nächsten 10 Tage sicherlich unterwegs immer mal Internet brauchen würden und sei es nur, damit ich bei Foursquare einchecken kann. Die Nano-SIM hatte mit 15 € Startguthaben 15 € gekostet, für 10 € hatte ich mir dann ein (vermutlich 10 GB-Paket) gebucht. Im Nachhinein wäre vielleicht Vodafone oder so eine bessere Wahl gewesen, Tesco hat in den Städten scheinbar nur 3G (LTE hab ich nicht gefunden) und unterwegs war fast überall nur Edge und an einigen Stellen sogar GPRS (von “kein Netz” rede ich gar nicht erst). Aber dafür war es billig und meistens hatte man zumindest genug Empfang um was nachsehen zu können.
